Carriage Kits - continued

Two of these vehicles were built in 1882, and were used originally on the Newhaven boat trains.

They can be seen on pages 47 and 59 of ‘E. J. Bedford of Lewes’ by John Minnis, published by Wild Swan.

This kit represents the longer 22ft version of the D47 brake van which was also electrically lit.  It is illustrated in the Middleton Press book ‘London Bridge to East Croydon’ and was involved in the Norwood Bridge collapse.  The photograph of the incident shows it as the first vehicle behind B1 Gladstone class No. 175 ‘Hayling’.
